Not for who you'd think. Even Friends can break your heart...

But you didn't have to cut me off Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing And I don't even need your love But you treat me like a stranger and I feel so rough No you didn't have to stoop so low Have your friends collect your records and then change your number I guess that I don't need that though Now you're just somebody that I used to know

  1. Love that song, from my favourite artist...I've seen Gotye 3 times since last October.

And don't worry Kelly...you will NEVER be somebody that I used to know!

  4. Never heard that song before.
(That feel when someone posts song lyrics, and you think it's the poster personally addressing someone)
It wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it for some reason wasn't too impactful on me for my first time listening to the song. Wonderful visual art direction though.
Listening to it a second time, it did get substantially better. I did notice the upright bass, which fits perfectly for this kind of song. It has a softer but richer sound than electric, and it just fits right in there. It was great to see them focus on constructing good melodies throughout the entire song rather than just the chorus, which happens all too often in pop music. (If this was on the top 40, I wouldn't know. I do strongly love music, but I don't listen to the radio, I just fish around youtube for related bands and buy CDs. I remember my girlfriend looking at me like I was insane when I didn't know how popular Adele was, despite being on top of the charts for over a year and won 6 Grammys.)
In short, good song, glad I found it.
